Beatport Top 20 of 2014 – Tracks, Artists & Genres
Beatport has released their top 20 tracks and artists of 2014 together with the top ten genres of the year. There is a huge surprise for the top tracks as Hardwell, Martin Garrix, and Oliver Heldens didn’t make it to number one as some of you may have expected. Everyone seems to have jumped the wagon onto deeper sounds as evidenced with the most purchased track being Oliver $ and Jimi Jules deep house release on Defected Records, “Pushing On“.
The top ten performers, hasn’t changed much and still has the more expected artists. With Martin Garrix finding his way to the top spot over the current DJ Mag’s NO 1 DJ Hardwell, the two Dutchmen precede Oliver Heldens, R3hab, and David Guetta to make the top five.
2014 is Deep House’s second year as Beatport’s top-selling musical genre. Over the decade, it has grown steadily and placed itself as the preferred electronic music genre of the masses since everybody was looking for something new after the popular progressive/big room trend.
