10 Years of Beatport Sales. Who Makes The Most Appearences?
Your guess probably is wrong, because you are thinking that it is Martin Garrix. Garrix definitely made it on the list (Who doesn’t know Animals).
Beatport, Electronic music’s biggest online store has just turned 10 years old and they have released a few statistics to help you undersatnd the top genres purchases and artists.
Public Enemy NO 1 , Deadmau5 is Beatport’s top-selling artist of all time. Actually DEadmau5 was the top-selling artist of the year for four consecutive years starting 2007 through to 2010, and his remix of BuruFunk & Carbon Community’s Community Funk was the top-selling track in Beatport history.
As for genres, Deep House has risen from being unknown back in 2005 to be the most downloaded category in 2014. Electro rose to its peak popularity around 2007, but now sits in the center with House and Progressive House as of this year. The biggest “glitch” (Its supposed to be a matrix reference) on the graph, is Dubstep. It came out of nowhere in 2006, seduced us all then fucked us with its wubs in 2011, and then left in the morning without leaving a number hence falling sharply to be the least downloaded genre this year. Dubstep is the little red triangle at the bottom of the graph (haha)
